I am very happy to announce OM workshop’s second year in Bangalore.
What is OM?
OM is a travelling workshop. A format that allows me to interact, and share my experiences and learnings with dancers who do not live in my home city. OM started its journey from Pune in 2015. It is a path towards creating balance in life, and uniting opposites.
This four-day workshop is crafted to help budding Odishi dancers appreciate the dance form through sessions of intense Odishi training, physical conditioning, and meditation - Shashwati Gari Ghosh
Workshop Highlights
Dance Fitness Module
This module will help the dancer with: Concentration, Patience, Physical-strengthening, Flexibility, Balance, Injury-prevention, Self-transformation.
Odishi Basics with Variations
Chouka - 1 to 10 (reworked for better understanding of the form)
Footwork - a series of intricate footwork specific to Odishi, which helps strengthen the form through discipline, precision, and the rhythm of Odishi dance nuances.
Sthayi Naato
A rare composition by late Guru Debaprasad Das.
Participant Eligibility
Dancers with at least 2 years of experience in the Odishi form may apply for registration.
Workshop Presentation
There will be an informal presentation – venue yet to be decided – put together by workshop participants. A presentation not for the audience, but an exercise in self-discovery, to find and believe in the inner dancer.
