I was a stranger; a far of one

Compared to everyone else you knew
Yet you offered me respect and friendship
Far more than anyone else I knew

Along with dance you taught stories of yore,
Which brought the rasas of lore
Often forgot to dance to your divine voice
While being lost in a world of vice

Even wondered why me among so many,
Oh where is everyone else that knew you before me
Well I am not a stranger any more
But a friend, a very dear one!

And I know there will be more after me...,

During my 6 years of learning under the guidance of Kalaratna Guru Vempati Ravishankar he taught me Kuchipudi items; both his father's and his. Also gave me several corrections and guidance.

Offering Homage to Kuchipudi Guru Vempati Ravi - January 2018

Looking through the window.... What a glorious dancer Vempati Ravi is. He can never be in the past tense. He is alive in our hearts for ever.. So many memories. He is the son of the best of the best dance guru. Dr. Padmabhushan Vempati Chinna Sathyam garu.

We dearly called him master garu.in one of our conversations master garu said "Mrinalini!, Ravi is a better dancer and choreographer than me". If master garu said that , imagine who Ravi is.

He fought with life , till the last minute he taught kuchipudi. I feel extremely fortunate to have danced in the academy where he did Nattuvangam for me. Ravi! Thank you ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Ravi! Can you hear me please . With tears from the heart
