There are too less of them this season. We need to see more as Chennai is in fact the city of culture and we also need to see all dance forms during this time of the year. What is important about the topic is that ... there is no other city that has the infra and tradition to do that. An initiative by Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai gives some hope for Kuchipudi dancers. Special mention should be made of the fact that the dancers who are scheduled to perform are from different Paramaparas in this event. Young dancers feel that performing only on one or two of the stages is something that also needs to improve. But it's all in the dynamics, they themselves state this point too. Other Classical Dance Performances.
The situation of performance opportunities being limited to just a few, extends even to other classical dance forms too. Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kathakali have only few dancers performing. There needn't be any specific reason other than the fact that it's about the eco-system and it's capacity. Is there a way forward? Relevant News Articles.
